Rethink breakfast and transform your morning with a gluten free, vegan-friendly toast-it-yourself granola from Troo!
Stop what you're doing, because I want you to pay attention. I've got the most incredible, delicious, fragrant, heartwarming breakfast ever imagined to share with you. You see that lovely bowl of yum up there? It's filled with yogurt and granola that I toasted and sweetened myself in my own oven just minutes before devouring. It's a TIY (toast-it-yourself) granola kit from the geniuses at Troo and it will change your life.
I first fell in love with the idea of Troo Granola scrolling through some of the popular gluten free hashtags on Instagram and was blown away by their brilliant concept: make your own granola fresh each morning and make your day a bajillion times better. (Okay, so that whole making your day better isn't a marketing promise; it's just my experience of what happened and I'm 98 per cent certain it'll happen to you too.)
These nifty granola toasting kits from Troo get you set up nicely with just about everything you need to toast your granola! All you have to do is add your choice of oil and your choice of sweetener (inside the little pot provided) pour into the bag and give it a good stir.
Then, spread a portion or two onto a baking tray lined with baking paper, pop into a preheated oven and toast. And salivate from sheer anticipation and as a reaction to the amazing aromas coming out of your oven.
When it's ready (kudos to you if you had the willpower to wait) simply sprinkle on over some of your favourite yogurt and munch your way to breakfast bliss.
I got to try the blue bag, called the Nutty Kit. And oh my days is it full of nuts! You've got just about every nut on the planet attending this granola party! Seriously, there's cashews, Brazil nuts, almonds, walnuts and even hazelnuts! Keeping them company is a selection of delectable pumpkin, flax and sunflower seeds, gluten free jumbo oats and a hit of spicing that is the icing on the cake.
Just a word of warning, so you don't make my mistake and have to cook the entire batch of granola in one go: the Nutty Kit states on the back of the packet that there is a fruit bag inside. You're meant to fish out the fruit bag before you add your oil and sweetener to the mix. I couldn't find my fruit bag, so I ended up dumping the entire contents of my kit into a large bowl. No fruit bag. I did a quick search on the Troo website, and the nutty kit is the only kit that doesn't include fruit. *headdesk* The other two kits: Fruity and Seedy, feature some of the nuts and seeds included in the Nutty Kit, but also include a little sachet of dried fruits.
When I made up my batch of toast-it-yourself granola, I used flavourless coconut oil and golden syrup to sweeten and I sprinkled over some desiccated coconut. You can literally use any oil and any sweetener you like. The oil choices are endless; don't sweat over it, just use what you've got on hand, whether that be olive, coconut, grapeseed, vegetable, canola, sesame or sunflower. And the deal with the sweetener is the same too, use what you've got in your kitchen: honey would work, golden syrup, maple syrup, or agave nectar. As sold, the kits are gluten free, dairy free, vegan and vegetarian friendly.
If you're looking for a new breakfast to try, you've got to get your hands on a Troo Granola Kit! Once you've tried granola warm from the oven, there's no way you'd ever want to go back to the already-toasted stuff!
You can order the toasting kits from the Troo Granola shop for £5.99 + the cost of shipping. Bargain!
