Dairy-Free Vegan Coconut Orange Julius
Orange Julius is a staple American drink, popular in shopping malls and on boardwalks at beaches, it's a cool and frothy mix of concentrated orange juice, milk and ice. I've swapped the cow's milk and replaced it with delicious coconut milk to make it suitable for vegans. After trying VitaCoco's new coconut milk, I've been on a bit of a coconut kick!Traditionally, an Orange Julius is made with frozen orange juice concentrate, but this isn't a product that's available in the UK, so I've had to improvise and make my own. If they sell frozen OJ concentrate where you live, you can replace the orange squash and the orange squash ice cubes with one can of the frozen concentrate.
Ingredients:
For the vegan orange julius2 teaspoons vanilla
125 grams sugar
125 grams ice
200ml diluted sugar free orange squash
250ml coconut milk
300 grams undiluted sugar free orange squash ice cubes
desiccated coconut

How to Make a Vegan Orange Julius Drink
I spent an innumerable number of days of my adolescence, hanging around the mall drinking Orange Julius. This is an iconic drink and one that you'll find yourself craving time and time again, especially when the weather is nice! The original Orange Julius is made without coconut and with cow's milk, so if you want to make it this way, that's an option too. Just replace equal quantities milk and omit the desiccated coconut. And if you try it, leave me a comment and let me know what you think! And share your version on Instagram with #anyonitanibbles!
Instructions:
- Freeze 300ml of undiluted orange squash either in an ice cube tray or a freezer-friendly container.
- Combine all ingredients except the desiccated coconut in a blender and blend until fully combined and frothy.
- Serve with a scattering of the coconut and orange slices if you prefer.
