Salted Caramel Swirl, Egg-less Applesauce Brownies
Standing Rigatoni PieYou're in for a treat today, guys! Two recipes for the price of one! But not just any recipes, two summer recipes that your family will love! The first recipe, you can find over on Emily's amazing blog, Nap-Time Creations. If you've never stopped by, then today's a perfect reason to! You'll have to if you want to know how I made that impressive pie up there, anyway! :) That's right, I'm guest posting over on Nap-Time Creations, so be sure to go see how you can make that pie, too! It doesn't disappoint! The recipe is here: http://www.nap-timecreations.com/2013/06/standing-rigatoni-pie.html

For the main event: my impromptu, egg-free applesauce brownies with salted caramel! At my husband's work, they take it in turn making treats for each other's birthday. This month, the person who should have made the treats forgot, so I whipped this up for my husband and his workmates. Two of the colleagues don't eat eggs, so all recipes needed to be egg-free. Those salted caramel applesauce brownies are what I came up with! To my surprise, you couldn't even tell they were missing eggs!

One of the great things about this recipe is its versatility, given the short-notice I had, I used store-bought applesauce, but with summer just around the corner, making your own applesauce for your summer baking would be amazing! The applesauce I used had chunks of apple in, so you could really taste the applesauce.

Salted Caramel Swirl Brownies for your Summer Baking

Ingredients:

For the salted caramel applesauce brownies
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup cocoa powder
2/3 cup apple sauce
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup gluten free plain flour
1/2 cup sunflower oil
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla paste
salted caramel to taste

All right, let's bake:

Preheat your oven to 200C.
Place the sugar, four, baking powder, salt and cocoa powder in a large bowl.
Next, add in the sunflower oil, vanilla paste and caramel, taking care to mix well.

Moist salted cramel swirl egg free brownies

Once incorporated fully, stir in the applesauce.
Bake in silicone cupcake cases for about 15 minutes or until cooked through.
Once cool, top with buttercream and a generous lashing of chocolate sprinkles.

These delicious brownies look unassuming and innocent, but they're filled with naughty goodness and flavor--from the rich cocoa powder to the salty and indulgent caramel. The buttercream and the sprinkles help to take it up a notch, making it a perfect treat for any occasion!

  7. These 2 desserts are wonderful!!
The pie is quite unique, but I just looooooooove the applesauce brownies !! I'd love to make them. I make my own applesauce sometimes so I'll make sure to have little chunks of apples in it.
